What are the main treatment challenges of textile wastewater?

Textile wastewater is characterized by high color (dyes), high pH (alkaline dyeing), high salt content (especially reactive dyeing), refractory organics (especially azo dyes) and highly variable flow and load. COD of 800-3,000 mg/L and color of 500-2,500 Pt-Co are typical.

Which treatment technologies are used for textiles?

The standard configuration is: equalization + neutralization + coagulation-flocculation (PAC + polymer) + biological treatment (activated sludge/MBR) + (where required) advanced oxidation (ozone/Fenton) or activated carbon. Advanced oxidation or nanofiltration may be required for color removal. RO + evaporator is used for salt recovery.

What is the investment cost of a textile WWTP?

Can you retrofit an existing textile mill?
