Namet Gümüşova Integrated Meat Plant — Wastewater Treatment and Water Reuse

The DAF pre-treatment → Kubota flat-sheet MBR → RO chain GESU is building at one of the largest integrated meat plants. Once the system is commissioned, the RO permeate will be reused inside the factory as boiler feed and cooling water. Erection is in progress; commissioning is planned for the end of 2026. How the Chain Will Work

In the chain being built, every stage is there to make the next one easier: the load is first removed physically, then broken down biologically, and at the end the membrane makes the water reusable.

PROCESS CHAIN

Integrated meat plant wastewater → DAF pre-treatment → Kubota flat-sheet MBR → RO → boiler feed & cooling water

Erection of the chain is in progress; commissioning is planned for the end of 2026.

STAGE 1

DAF pre-treatment

Dissolved air flotation lifts the oil, suspended solids and blood-borne load of integrated meat wastewater to the surface right at the start. Without this stage the biological system behind it is buried under the fat load.

STAGE 2

Kubota flat-sheet MBR

Biological treatment is completed with a Kubota flat-sheet membrane instead of a classic clarifier. Because the sludge is held back by the membrane, the effluent is clear and steady — and that clarity is what makes the RO behind it possible.

STAGE 3

RO and water reuse

The MBR effluent will feed the reverse osmosis unit; once commissioned, the RO permeate will be reused in the factory as boiler feed and cooling water. This water is not drinking water; it will be recovered for non-process uses.

The recovered water will not be used as drinking water. The aim is to return it to non-potable uses such as boiler feed and cooling, in order to reduce fresh water intake and the discharge load.

GESU carries out engineering, equipment manufacturing and installation under one responsibility; most equipment is produced in our own factory in Bursa. On this project erection is still in progress and commissioning is planned for the end of 2026. Effluent values depend on the characteristics of the incoming wastewater and are established after analysis.
